With the world slowly moving to the much-dreaded energy crisis, it is important that we reduce our dependency on non-renewable sources of energy.

Non-renewable sources being renewable are about to get extinct. Renewable energy solutions refer to those energy solutions that can keep churning energy without exhausting the resources. Three types of energy solutions fall into the category of renewable energy solutions: solar energy solutions, hydro energy solutions, and wind energy solutions.

Solar energy solutions: The sun’s energy is the most abundant energy available on earth. Make use of this free energy. You can employ solar power solutions at home. This will not only cut down power bills but also help you contribute to a greener world. Solar power solutions comprise of solar cookers, solar heating systems, solar lighting systems, solar dryers etc.

The sun has always been a source of heat energy and light energy. With the advancement of technology, the sun’s energy can be used to create other forms of energy.

The solar energy systems have many advantages apart from being cost-effective and environment-friendly. They are low on maintenance thus saving your time and effort. Also, solar systems give you a return on investment very soon, thus making the systems free after some time. Cooking with solar energy is also considered extremely healthy. Families have started employing solar energy as a power solution at their homes.

Hydro energy solutions: The hydro energy or water energy is an effective renewable energy. One can convert the hydro energy into electrical energy to run vehicles and various electrical appliances. Hydro energy is typically generated on a large scale. It has been estimated that 90 percent of the electrical energy produced by renewable resources is produced solely by hydro power. Dams are built to help generate electricity by tapping the water power.

There have been some concerns about using this energy because it is supposed to adversely affect the water-borne flora and fauna.

Wind energy solutions: Windmills were in existence even in the years before the birth of Christ. They helped tow boats and pump water. Eventually, post-industrialization, they became a source for generating electricity.

Windmills and wind turbines have never been passé. Wind energy can help generate tonnes of megawatts of electricity. When employed at individual estates, it can help do away with conventional power sources. An excellent renewable source of energy, the wind energy will go a long way in promising a good future to generations to come.

This is the start of a great series on how to make money while going energy-efficient. You do not want to miss this!

Everybody talks about going green, a.k.a energy efficient, but many fail to realize they can make money while taking healthy moves to protect the environment.

My goal here is to put the word out that you can become energy-efficient without going broke and even earning some money, by doing it right, and a head of the masses.

The first thing we must deduce is whether you are going to build a green home from scratch, buy a green home that is already built, or remodel your current home.

Lets not get panicked over the expensive sound of any of the above actions, as that is why I am here writing this for your benefit. I will write in as much detail as I feel necessary to allow you to become comfortable with the idea of doing any of the above that you should choose.

My goal is to reach out to as many people as possible and satisfy their curriosities about going green and helping them to do it for as little cash as possible. What I hope to gain from sharing this information…

Not so much – Just the WORLD! I merely want my grandchildren to enjoy this world with their grandchildren, and if you feel I ask too much in return for my efforts, then I hope you will at least try to make a small contribution towards the full payment and turn off that unnecessary light and shut down your computer, when it is not in use, and in return, we will both be enriched.

I will attempt to break this into several parts so you can easily choose the part that best describes your chosen action and get right to the point of How To Make Money While Going Energy-Efficient. After all, we both want you to start making energy-efficient money as soon as possible, for all our sakes. So watch this series of posts closely so you can get started right away.

BBC NEWS
Floating wind turbine launched
By Jorn Madslien
Business reporter, BBC News

The world’s first floating wind turbine is to be towed out to sea this weekend.

Statoil’s Alexandra Beck Gjorv told the BBC the technology, the Hywind, to be put off Norway’s coast – “should help move offshore wind farms out of sight”.

And it could lead to offshore wind farms eventually being located many miles offshore, away from areas where they cause disruption, Ms Gjorv added.

This would benefit military radar operations, the shipping industry, fisheries, bird life and tourism.

“Taking wind turbines to sea presents new opportunities,” said Ms Gjorv, of Statoil’s new energy division.

“The wind is stronger and more consistent [and] areas are large.”

The Hywind, a 2.3 megawatt (MW) wind turbine built by Siemens, combines technologies from both the wind farming industry and the oil and gas sectors, and will be tested off the coast of Norway for two years.

In a similar way to how large parts of icebergs are hidden below the sea surface, the turbine has a 100 metre draft that is anchored to the seabed with cables, that can be up to 700 metres long.

Wealthy customers

# Floating wind turbine The floatation element stretches 100 metres below the sea surface
# It is anchored to the seabed in three places
# It can be moored in waters up to 700 metres deep

Offshore wind farms cost considerably more than wind farms on land, and initially floating ones will be more expensive than static offshore installations.

But over time, insisted Ms Gjorv, the floating turbines should not cost more than fixed ones.

Statoil plans to target markets where there is both an ability to pay as well as large and growing demand for energy, she added.

Floating wind farms could later be established off both coasts of North America and off the Iberian peninsula and the coasts of Norway and the United Kingdom, she said.

Floating wind farms could provide an additional source of energy for countries that have run out of space for their onshore wind farms, or where there is not enough wind on land, Ms Gjorv added.

“The global market for such turbines is potentially enormous, depending on how low we can press costs,” she said, though she was not able to quantify it or to outline a timescale for when floating wind farms would become commercially available.
